Northern Bobwhite Quails - Birds
Northern Bobwhites are found in most areas of the United States and some areas of Canada. They are also found in Cuba and their density depends on the availability of suitable habitats. This species is easily distinguishable by its color pattern. Males and females have different coloration. Thus, males have a white stripe on the face and throat, while females have yellow markings. Black featuring on the wings is also a characteristic feature of the male. As for the size, females appear to be slightly larger than males. The weight averages 6-8 ounces, while the length is about 8-11 inches.
